Lauren Frances Baker
BAKER Lauren Frances Lauren Frances Baker, 19, of Huron, died Thursday, October 19, 2006, at her residence after a heroic battle with Desmoplastic Cancer, diagnosed in January 2005. She was born December 22, 1986, in Mountain View, California, and moved to Huron in 1999 coming from Scott Depot, West Virginia. Lauren graduated from Huron High School in 2005 where she was active in National Honor Society; was an Academic Challenge participant; an AP Scholar Student in English, Chemistry, and History and was a four year member of the Huron Swim Team and the Huron Band. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where she was very active in the Youth Group and was an Adult Leader. Lauren enjoyed the challenge of learning and enjoyed reading as a hobby. Lauren is survived by her parents, Christopher and Karen (nee Shipley) Baker of Huron; a sister, Sarah Baker at home, and brother, Gregory Baker at home; paternal grandparents, Peter and Lois (nee Treichel) Baker of Huron; God Parents, Stephen J. Baker (uncle) of Huron and Jennifer Hatcher (aunt), of Maumee; aunts, Mary Lou (Ed) Barker of Toledo, Judy (Jim) Mersing of Indiana, Ellen Baker of Huron; uncles, Charlie (Carol) Shipley of Swanton, Mike Shipley of Maumee, Charles Baker of Los Angeles, CA, Gerard (Corinne) Baker of Omaha, NE and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Chuck and Louise A. (nee Widman) Shipley and an uncle, Roosevelt Hatcher II. Friends may call Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main Street, Huron. Funeral Mass will be Monday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St. Huron. Rev. Jeffery Sikorski will officiate. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery, Huron. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lauren F. Baker Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Huron High School, 710 Cleveland Rd.
